This privacy policy explains how mRT processes the personal data that you provide or that is collected when you visit the mRT website or use digital services. mRT is obliged to protect the personal data of visitors and users of its websites. This document describes how mRT processes the personal data it collects, the purposes for which it may be used and the parties to whom it is disclosed.

To improve the services available on the website, mRT places cookies that collect information about your browsing behaviour. 4. Data that mRT collects from you based on your usage behaviour

Where you provide personal data to mRT, you are asked to voluntarily provide additional information depending on the application. This information is marked as optional and helps mRT to better understand its customers and offer them tailored services. This additional information is collected solely for statistical purposes. No link is established to the individual.

Log information from our web servers, e.g. information about your computer such as your IP address, operating system and browser type (‘usage data’). This information is used by mRT to administer the system and analyse how the mRT website and digital platforms are used. Using this information, mRT can also provide an optimal infrastructure for our online activities.

 

Processing is carried out on the basis of a balancing of interests, i.e. the monitoring and improvement of our website and our products and services lead us to collect and process this data. In principle, this data is collected in such a way that no link can be established with a specific individual. 

5.   Data security within the group (associated companies within the meaning of the Companies Act)

mRT is a group operating in Switzerland but affiliated with an international group that maintains databases in various countries where mRT is present. Where necessary, mRT transfers your personal data within the group to one of its databases or to external partners whose headquarters are located outside your country (processing of order data).

As data protection standards vary around the world, mRT will only transfer your personal data to companies within the mRT group or to third-party companies outside the European Union if they offer a level of protection that is adequate or comparable to that provided within the European Union for personal data.

Within the Michelin Group

The data controller transfers your personal data to other Michelin companies that are affiliated with it under company law. This is done in accordance with the purpose originally defined for the processing.

 

To data processors

mRT may, where necessary, pass on your personal data to data processors whom mRT may engage to process your enquiry or provide services. These data processors are contractually obliged to treat the personal data they receive as confidential, to ensure its security, and to use your personal data solely in accordance with our instructions. In such cases, mRT remains the data controller within the meaning of the Data Protection Act.

 

To third parties

For legal reasons: where mRT is required to disclose or transfer your personal data to comply with a legal obligation, to enforce or apply our terms and conditions of sale and other agreements, or to protect the property or safety of the mRT Group, our customers or others.
Based on your consent: third parties may collect information about you on our website or through our products or services using cookies or similar technologies, for example to provide personalised advertising.

7.    How long does mRT keep your personal data?

In principle, mRT retains your personal data for as long as is necessary to fulfil the purpose for which mRT collected the data; this also includes compliance with legal provisions, such as accounting regulations or reporting obligations.

In certain circumstances, you may request that mRT delete your data. You will find further details in the section ‘Your rights under data protection legislation’.

Where necessary, mRT anonymises your personal data (so that it can no longer be linked to you) for statistical and research purposes. In such cases, mRT may use this data without further notice and for an unlimited period.

If your personal data is incorrect or incomplete, you have the right to request that it be rectified and updated. If MRT has disclosed your data to third parties, they will be informed, where possible, of any updates you provide to us.

You have the right to request the erasure of your personal data if there is no longer any legitimate reason for mRT to continue processing it. For example, you may exercise your right to be forgotten if the data is no longer necessary for the purpose for which it was originally collected or processed, or if you have withdrawn your consent to the processing.

This does not apply to data retained as supporting documentation within the framework of a statutory retention period.

Furthermore, you have the right to request that the processing of your personal data be restricted. If you request that the processing of your personal data be restricted, mRT will cease all further processing of that data.

You may exercise your right to object to such processing by ticking the relevant boxes (such as the unsubscribe option for a newsletter). mRT has implemented technical and organisational measures to ensure the protection, security and integrity of your personal data. Access to personal data is restricted to employees and service providers who require this information and who have been trained in compliance with confidentiality provisions.

mRT ensures that your personal data is not altered or damaged by unauthorised third parties and that no unauthorised third parties have access to it.
